Alan is from the Glasgow area and has over the years played throughout the UK.  From the Beesmouth in Brighton to  Hootanannys in Inverness.  In the late 70's  and early 80's  he played keyboards and sang in  several Glasgow bands  in  some well remembered  venues such as the Burns Howf.
He has  continued to write  over the years producing  5  albums  of personal work.  In 2008 he released  his 6th album "Daisy Chains" followed by "Could've Been Good" in 2009.
In recent years he became friends with Henry McCullough which has led to some excellent live work together and a guest appearance by Henry on Alans latest album "Blind"
Alan has supported Sam Brown, Maggie Bell, Wishbone Ash, and enjoyed an informal gig with Paolo Nutini where they played some blues, some of Paolo's music, and sang John Martyns "May You Never" together.

"I would like to thank Henry McCullough for his friendship and for that rare quality of offering a helping hand because you can." Alan Murphy
